The Opening Salvo

This weekend: I don’t see any point in writing every day if no one has the chance to read it. This isn’t a diary. Part of putting my writing, my perspective, and myself out into the world is to grow. After 20ish years of writing and hiding, I decided to face my fear of being ostracized or ignored by creating this blog. I bought the domain and hosting months ago but never built the site. I know there are hundreds if not hundreds of thousands of WordPress themes and pre-made websites I could have used. I could have just gone to medium.com or Blogspot, but you lose control of your work in exchange for exposure and simplicity. Besides, starting a blog as a middle-aged, white, gainfully employed, male, the mindsets of the open-minded inclusive crowd aren’t inclusive towards me. So, like my supposed barbarian ancestors, I’m off to plunder their bandwidth on my terms, with this website being my cobbled-together ship.
Part of growth is pushing past discomfort, and understood. Web design for me is like trying to learn a new language while doing a handstand. So that control I wanted to retain over my work and website led to this wonky creation. It may not be visually appealing and I may turn readers away by its austerity and oddness, but it is what it is for now. When I get done feeling despondent I’ll work on it.

Here I will explore curiosity, entrepreneurship, self-work, and the like. I will do my best to keep it engaging and relevant.
